Planetside 2 is getting a new continent, Oshur

During a special announcement livestream today, the PlanetSide 2 team took to the airwaves to reveal a brand new continent coming to the game called Oshur. The new continent is a large chain of islands and interconnected landmasses that means aerial and naval combat will take priority here. No release date has been announced, but more details about the new map are coming soon.

Today, the team announced PlanetSide 2’s next continent: Oshur. Oshur will consist of multiple islands and a variety of biomes, and will best be traversed by aircraft. We’ll be sharing more about the continent as we continue development, so stay tuned!

For those that don’t know, PlanetSide 2 is a living and breathing FPS that sees constant combat between multiple player factions. Hundreds of players duke it out on-foot and in all manner of armed and armored vehicles over dominance of the various in-game landmasses. A faction establishing total control over a continent grants significant bonuses to all players in that group. And since it’s a constant battle for supremacy, there’s a very target-rich environment in PlanetSide 2. The game is known for one thing, chaotic and explosive battles, and this new continent should have those in spades.
